Sept 6, 2004 - Big Band Dance, Swiss Chorus Performance and Root Beer Social During Highland Cove's National Assisted Living Week Celebration
SALT LAKE CITY - Highland Cove Retirement Community will celebrate National Assisted Living Week with activities beginning on Sunday, September 12, through Friday, September 17. Festivities will include a Grandparents' Day award ceremony and root beer social, a performance by the Swiss Chorus, a big-band parking lot dance and numerous other events.
"The 2004 theme is 'Caring For Our Heritage'," Stan Ketcher, Highland Cove general manager, said. "The weeklong celebration is dedicated to re-discovering ancestral lineage, traditions and forgotten customs that have shaped the lives of seniors throughout generations.
"It is wonderful to think how the invention of assisted living has afforded seniors independence, dignity and an improved quality of life to carry on their great legacies," Ketcher continued. "We encourage community members to visit Highland Cove during the festivities and get to know the extraordinary people who live here and their compassionate caretakers."
Bonnie Knudson, Highland Cove Assisted Living Recreation Director, added, "Each resident has an unique heritage that has enriched the lives of the caretakers and community at Highland Cove. With more than 250 residents, we are a cultural melting pot: Italians, Greeks, Scandinavians, English, Irish, German, French, Hungarian, Lebanese and Slavic, to name a few."
Highland Cove, owned by Life Care Centers of America, offers living accommodations to more than 250 residents. Highland Cove provides a care continuum with independent and assisted living, and intermediate nursing care. I love living at Highland Cove because I chose to "Be There" in lieu of keeping up a big house and two-acre yard. Being pampered and having gorgeous Utah mountain views is also a perfect joy! You too will agree after the first visit.
